National Trauma Awareness Month 2024

"Injury Prevention Is Everyone's Business"

National Trauma Awareness Month is an annual campaign dedicated to promoting injury prevention and safety practices, with the help of members from the Trauma Prevention Coalition (TPC), this year's theme is "Injury Prevention Is Everyone's Business." Given the documented increase in trauma-related injuries nationwide, the theme "Trauma Is Everyone's Business" is timely and fitting for our trauma centers to advocate. This month-long initiative aims to engage individuals, communities, and organizations in efforts to reduce the incidence of injuries and mitigate their impact.  Raising awareness and supporting prevention efforts is more important now than ever.  This year’s committee chose four areas to focus prevention efforts on, including how they have brought solutions to IVP community issues.

  • Programs: existing injury and violence prevention programs and best practices.
  • Partnerships: sharing successful partnerships and exploring new partnerships utilized in the delivery of injury and violence prevention programs.
  • Policies: exploring model public policies focused on injury and violence prevention.
  • Populations: uncovering the populations we serve and need to serve moving forward in our injury and violence prevention work.

This year, the ATS and TPC have partnered to provide a toolkit with resources for each of our focus areas, in addition, to multiple webinars throughout the month of May. Learn more and register online below.
