Suzanne M. Prentiss, BA, MPA, NRP

Sue Prentiss serves as the executive director of the ATS, leading efforts to grow and support the organization’s programs, research, and resources. At the ATS, Sue works with leadership on the development and enhancement of trauma systems, regionalized systems of care and resources to assist providers in the treatment of trauma patients. She has more than twenty years of experience in emergency medical services (EMS) leadership at the state, regional, and national level including serving as the state of New Hampshire's Trauma System Coordinator. Since 2017, she has been an Advocate for the Recognition of EMS Personnel Licensure Interstate CompAct (REPLICA) a program of the National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO). She was the manager of EMS at the Concord Hospital Emergency Department (NH), Level II trauma center, since 2010, and before that she worked as the EMS bureau chief for the State of New Hampshire. Sue is served five terms as a city councilor in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and served two terms as Lebanon's mayor. In 2020 Sue was elected to the NH State Senate. She received a BA in Sociology from Saint Michael's College and an MPA from the University of Phoenix. In 2014 she attended Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government. She continues to maintain a certification as a nationally registered paramedic.

 

Amy Starchville

Amy Starchville serves as the Membership Director where she will manage recruitment, retention, marketing and member services and provide routine oversight of ATS programs. Prior to joining ATS, Amy was the director of operations for the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training where she has managed the day-to-day operations of the organization; provided governance support to the Board and volunteer committees; created processes to execute meetings and events; managed the elections; managed the awards program; conducted financial functions including budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll; and participated on the task force that developed a five-year strategic plan and roadmap. Amy holds a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and a B.A. in Social and Rehabilitation Services from Assumption University.

 

McKenzie Riley, BA, MS

McKenzie Riley serves as the Communications Manager for the ATS. Prior to joining, McKenzie was the assistant director of conferences and marketing at George Mason University where she managed an annual short term and conference guest program resulting in $750,000 revenue over three months. Before she came to northern Virginia in May 2017, she was the community director for Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. In that position from July 2013-May 2017, she managed the daily operations of a 500-bed residential facility for first-year students. McKenzie earned a MS in Education Administration from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in May 2013, and a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri, St. Louis in May 2011.

 

Kelli Perrotti, MSHSA, BSN, RN

Kelli serves as the ATS Education and Program Manager. In this role, Kelli is responsible for maintaining and expanding the existing in-person, online and other distance-based educational programming, assisting association committees and councils with the design and development of new educational programming, and managing the certification program and promoting various organizational products and services. McKenzie will work directly with the educational committees in the development and enhancement of educational programming for ATS’ members. Kelli has more than 20 years of experience in nursing, healthcare, public health, and public policy, serving in various roles and environments. Since 2011, she has served as the Wyoming Trauma Program and System Manager for the Wyoming Department of Health Office of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). From 2009 to 2011, Kelli was a Public Health Nurse and Adult Health Coordinator for Albany County Public Health. Before that, she spent 10 years as a Critical Care Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. Kelli earned a B.S. in Nursing from the University of Wyoming and an M.S. in Health Services Administration from the

University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy.

 

Cortney Vercelote-Whitwood, BS

Cortney Vercelote-Whitwood serves as the ATS Education Program liaison. She provides direct support to course and webinar participants and assists the Education Program Manager with faculty and course development. Cortney has worn many hats at the ATS, serving as a course anchor for our online programs for the past two years. She graduated from Park University with her Bachelor of Science in Social Psychology in 2021. Preceding her time with the ATS, she served in the United States Navy from 2009-2022. Cortney joined the ATS in 2024.

 

Katherine Joseph, BS, MPH

Katherine Joseph serves as the Trauma Survivors Network Program Director. In this role Katherine sets the strategic direction, manages alliances with national and international trauma organizations, and leads research efforts focused on survivor programs under the TSN. Prior to joining the ATS, Katherine was one of the TSN Coordinators at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD. More recently, she served as a lead clinical research specialist for the Department of Orthopaedics at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Katherine earned a MPH in Community and Population Health from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

 

Abby Beerman, MPH

Abby Beerman serves as the National Trauma Survivors Network Coordinator for the American Trauma Society. Her focus is to support TSN coordinators as they implement and strengthen the TSN at their local trauma centers. She also provides ongoing training and education, develops and promotes best practices, and provides technical assistance. Prior to joining the ATS, Abby was the injury prevention coordinator and TSN coordinator for the University of Vermont Medical Center, a pediatric and adult trauma center. Before moving to New England, she served as a Regional Epidemiologist for the Green River District Health Department in Kentucky.

 

Lara Peck, MPH, MCHES

Lara Peck is the Trauma Survivors Network Program Advisor for the American Trauma Society. Lara is a school health and professional development expert who works with schools, school districts, and community partners to create healthy school environments. Her work focuses on supporting national office staff and TSN Coordinators as they implement and maintain the TSN at their local trauma centers. While serving in this role, Lara is also the Injury Prevention Coordinator and TSN Coordinator at Prisma Health Richland Hospital Trauma Center in Columbia, SC. Lara earned a MPH in Home Economics Education from Winthrop University. She is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist with extensive experience in best practices related to professional development and technical assistance. In her spare time, Lara enjoys gardening, watching movies, and reading. 

 

Elizabeth Wysocki, MS

Elizabeth Wysocki is the Trauma Survivors Network Program Education Advisor for the American Trauma Society. Liz is currently a Program Manager with the Major Extremity Trauma Research Consortium (METRC) at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. At METRC, she is on a team that conducts multi-center interdisciplinary research studies focused on addressing critical issues for orthopedic trauma patients. Before working at METRC, she was a TSN Coordinator at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Baltimore and a National TSN Coordinator with the ATS. She earned a MS in Community Health Education from Towson University.

 

Natalie Hursey, MS

Natalie Hursey serves as the Director of Development for ATS. She is a seasoned, relationship-driven fundraising professional who believes that connection is the engine of change. With more than a decade of experience in philanthropy, she uses authentic storytelling, strategic vision, and a deep commitment to impact to help mission-driven organizations mobilize people and resources. Before joining the ATS team, Natalie served as the Assistant Director of Major Gifts for MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Director of Development for the Houston Area Women’s Center. Natalie specializes in building trust with donors and volunteers and turning that trust into meaningful, long-term support. She brings a people-centered approach to philanthropy that is rooted in empathy, clarity, and action. At the American Trauma Society, Natalie helps advance a vision where survivors thrive and communities grow stronger through shared purpose and sustained investment.

 

Kathy Robinson, RN, FAEN, QAS

Kathy Robinson is a Program Advisor for the ATS, coordinating legislative and policy activities and assisting member communications. Kathy has more than 40 years experience in EMS, emergency nursing, and trauma as a clinician, patient advocate, and health care policy consultant. Her extensive experience as a registered nurse includes various clinical and administrative roles. Kathy has worked side-by-side with legislators and health staff to implement critical policy initiatives at the state and federal level. She is a Fellow in the Academy of Emergency Nursing, authored numerous publications, and has lectured extensively both in the United States and abroad.

 

Clay Tyeryar, MAM, CAE, QAS

Clay’s areas of expertise include international trade, lobbying, government relations, fundraising, international exhibition management and production, trade missions and financial controls. He is chief staff executive  for several ASMI clients, including the American Trauma Society (ATS). He was one of the first graduates of The George Washington University’s Master of Association Management Program, and is a graduate of  Gettysburg College with a B.A. in Business Administration.

 

 

Additional Headquarters Staff

A variety of additional staff specialists serve ATS, including a finance manager, receptionist, office manager, mailroom staff, management counsel, and special projects staff as the need arises.
