ATS committees are divided into two groups: Committees of
the ATS Board of Directors, and Committees open to all members of ATS.
Participation in Member Committees is always welcomed and encouraged by all ATS
members in good standing.
ATS Board Committees
Executive Committee
Appointed by the President, this committee is charged with
overseeing operations of the Society between Board of Director meetings.
Committee members include the President, Chairman, Treasurer, Immediate Past
President, Membership Committee Chairman, and other Board Members appointed by
the Board to this function. The Executive Committee meets monthly by
teleconference, or more frequently as needed.

Finance Committee
Chaired by the Treasurer, the Finance Committee meets
monthly by teleconference to oversee the fiscal condition of the Society and
make recommendations to be Board of Directors about spending, raising funds,
and other related issues. Members are appointed by the Board.

Governance Committee
Chaired by the Immediate Past President, this committee
deals with issues of By-Law amendments, appointments and election of new Board members, and other issues
related to the legal governance of the Society. Members are appointed by the
Board.

Legislative and Policy Committee (LPC)
The LPC discusses and directs ATS’s legislative issues, goals and
strategy. The group evaluates proposed legislation and regulations that may
favorably or adversely affect trauma professionals and disseminates key
information to the membership for edification or action. Membership of the Committee is comprised of both members of the Board and ATS members.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee meets monthly by teleconference to
maintain and increase ATS members in all categories. Chaired by the Board's Vice Chairman, the Membership Committee
is open to all ATS members in good standing who want to contribute to the
vitality of ATS. The committee, assisted by ATS staff and Board members, focuses on efforts to recruit and retain its membership base.

Trauma Survivors Network (TSN) Advisory Committee
Made up of volunteers from across the country, including professionals in trauma care, mental health issues related to traumatic injury, and trauma survivors and their family members, the Council advises the ATS on components and implementation of the national TSN as well as activities and resources for trauma survivors.

ATS Ad-Hoc Committees and Councils
Divisions Council
The ATS has seven divisions, the membership units that focus on the fulfillment of the Society’s mission. The Council assists Divisions in coordinating and providing educational programming, project funding opportunities, membership recruitment, networking and mentoring at the local level. The Council also works to expand the presence of these Divisions to other states around the country.

Injury Prevention Council (IPC)
Dedicated to the
development and dissemination of materials and programs designed to prevent
traumatic injury. The committee is comprised of nurses, injury prevention
specialists, social workers and others interested in the injury prevention
community. One of the committee's responsibilities is to prepare for
National Trauma Awareness Month (NTAM) each May. The NTAM Working Group, made
up of ATS IPC members as well as members of the Society of Trauma Nurses (STN),
researches injury prevalence and related prevention issues and develops an
injury prevention agenda and programs that are then made available to ATS and
STN members for rollout in March for use during the entire year. The committee
meets year-round by teleconference, and is open to all ATS and STN members with an interest
in injury prevention.

Trauma Nurse Leadership Council (TNLC) / Trauma Program Management Course (TPM) Committee
Comprised of
nurses in pre-hospital, trauma, emergency, and rehabilitative care who work
toward further development of leadership skills and professional networking.
Faculty for the ATS' Trauma Program Management Course are selected from within the TNLC.

Trauma Clinical Data and Informatics Council (TCDIC)
The ATS Data and Registry Council serves as
faculty for the Trauma Registrar Course, serves as a resource for the registry community, students of the Trauma Registrar Course, distance learning
students as well as other trauma professional inquiring about trauma data
management. The Council oversees the certification program for Trauma
Registrars (CSTR), providing resources for exam preparation and
recertification.
