Since 1987 the American Trauma Society has been the leader in trauma registry education around the country. The Trauma Registry Course (TRC) has been recognized by the American College of Surgeons in the Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient since 1999 as an avenue for comprehensive trauma registry training. Two decades later, the American Trauma Society continues its legacy, offering industry leading training for trauma registry professionals.

Upon completion of the Trauma Registry Course, the learner will be able to:
- Identify the fundamental elements of a trauma registry, hardware and software.
 - Identify the fundamental elements of data standards including data set patient inclusion criteria, definitions, field values, and required associated elements.
 - List the basic principles for various scaling and scoring tools utilized in the trauma program.
 - Identify the process of reviewing and abstracting medical records and basic principles of Inter-Rater Reliability audits.
 - Described the differences between coding for reimbursement versus injury severity and importance of comprehensive documentation.
 - Describes the process of assigning trauma specific ICD-10 codes and their significance.
 - Identify various methods of data presentation, reporting, and confidentiality of data.
 - Identify multidisciplinary members of a trauma quality and process improvement committee and discuss methodology for process and quality improvement.

The Trauma Center Association of America is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 16459 for 12.0 contact hours. CE Certificate must be retained for 4 years after date of issue. If learner does not possess an RN License, a completion certificate worth 12.0 ATS Contact Hours will be provided.
