Important Information Regarding Membership Dues

In 2016, the American Trauma Society (ATS) enters its 48th year with continued demonstrated success serving as an advocate for the trauma care system, trauma prevention programs, and the victims of trauma and their families throughout the United States.

As a leader in supporting the trauma community, the ATS:

  • Provides critical information on trauma care and injury prevention to its members, policy makers, and the public;
  • Continues its nationally recognized work in injury prevention, creating and producing programs designed to reduce the impact of morbidity and mortality on our nation; and
  • Provides leadership in trauma education through our nationally recognized Trauma Registry Course, Trauma Program Manager Course and newly launched Injury Prevention Coordinators Course. In addition, we have expanded our distance learning options with new webinars, conference calls, mentoring programs and continuing education opportunities, which we will continue to expand in the coming year.

As a member of the ATS, your support has helped launch and grow a program vital to the survival of trauma patients – the Trauma Survivors Network. Throughout the country each year, thousands of patients are able to learn from their peers, rely on the support of family and friends, and gain self-efficacy to speed up and enhance their recovery from traumatic injury.

Through your continued support, you have helped our national campaigns draw attention to important industry related issues. Each May, National Trauma Awareness Month (in its 27th year), raises awareness about different causes of injury and death – distracted driving, falls, and sports, just to name a few. Trauma Survivors Day showcases the strength and determination of providers, patients and families as they work to overcome severe injury. These programs, and others, have peaked the interest of community leaders and policy makers across the country and in the halls of the U.S. Congress.

Your support is needed now more than ever, to allow us to invest in the future of ATS and continue to grow the resources and benefits we offer, as well as achieve the greatest impact in the lives of trauma patients. While our dues rates have remained steady for over a decade, dues revenue is a vital source of funding for our operations and for our ability to strengthen and expand the resources that we provide to our members. Like other professional societies, the ATS must periodically review its operating costs and anticipated growth. After careful consideration, the ATS Board of Directors has approved a dues increase that will apply to all member categories. The dues increase will help offset increasing costs, support the Association’s administrative services, and establish a solid foundation for new initiatives and project development in support of our strategic plan.

We know that there is stiff competition for your membership dollars, so when you receive your 2016 membership renewal, we hope you will continue to support the ATS. In order for ATS to provide high quality member services and flourish as a dynamic leader in the industry, your membership is vital.

We thank you for your support and are grateful for your commitment to improved trauma care, injury prevention and the support of the trauma patient. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns at 703-538-3544 or
