About TIEP

The Trauma Information Exchange Program (TIEP) was established in the fall of 2000 with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC/ National Center for Injury Prevention and Control NCIPC. To assure a strong foundation for the new program, the American Trauma Society negotiated an agreement with the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy to collaborate on the development of TIEP and provide ongoing program support.

TIEP’s mission is to foster the exchange and use of information to improve trauma care.

To fulfill its mission, TIEP has defined four areas of activity:

  • National inventory of trauma centers and trauma systems

  • Information exchange network of trauma care institutions

  • Trauma and trauma system surveillance

  • Dissemination and promotion

Current activities in these areas are described under Projects.
