Each represents a unique discipline to offer ATS Conference attendees with a robust and holistic approach to trauma, advocacy, and change within our trauma systems today.
Dr. Galinos Barmparas, MD, FACS
Galinos Barmparas, MD, FACS is a trauma, acute care surgery, and surgical critical care surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he serves as Medical Director of Trauma Services and Director of Acute Care Surgery Research. He completed research and early surgical training at LA County + USC Medical Center and then completed general surgery residency and surgical critical care fellowship at Cedars-Sinai, with additional trauma surgery training at Groote Schuur Hospital (University of Cape Town). He is an Associate Professor in Cedars-Sinai’s Clinical Scholars Program and a Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor at UCLA, with leadership roles spanning trauma systems, performance improvement, and education. His academic work emphasizes trauma resuscitation, quality improvement, prehospital care/whole blood, high-fidelity simulation, and AI-enabled trauma imaging, alongside service with organizations including the American College of Surgeons and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma.
Dr. Robert Don Barraco, MD, MPH, FACS, FCCP
Dr. Bob Barraco graduated from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed his surgical residency at Morristown Memorial Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. He also earned a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health with a focus on health policy and injury studies. A Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Barraco is a nationally recognized leader in geriatric trauma and acute care surgery, serving in key leadership roles with the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma and the American College of Surgeons. He currently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at Lehigh Valley Health Network and holds academic appointments with USF Morsani College of Medicine and Sidney Kimmel Medical College.
Kelsey Cooper
Kelsey is the Product Lead at TandemStride, where she is building a digital ecosystem designed to strengthen trauma recovery beyond hospital discharge. She brings over six years of experience at Oak Street Health (CVS Health), where she focused on improving patient outcomes and reducing avoidable readmissions through better care transitions. With a background in engineering and an MBA, Kelsey specializes in designing scalable, human-centered solutions that address gaps in complex healthcare systems. Her work centers on creating practical, empathy-driven tools that support long-term recovery and resilience.
Emily DeMichele
Lead Designer at TandemStride, Emily combines logic and creativity to build healthcare solutions for those who need them most. With over ten years of experience navigating the worlds of entrepreneurship, Silicon Valley, and Fortune 5 giants, she now focuses on using empathy-driven design to support trauma survivors. Her work aims to make life-saving technology feel seamless and intuitive, ensuring that a patient’s path to recovery is never interrupted by a lack of support. A Rutgers alum and Solana Beach local, Emily recharges by surfing and playing with her two cats.
Courtney Edwards, DNP, MPH, RN, CCRN, CEN, TCRN, NEA-BC, FAEN
Courtney Edwards is the Director of Trauma Community Outreach & BioTel EMS at Parkland Health, Dallas, Texas. Dr. Edwards is responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of hospital-based injury prevention and outreach programs for a Level I Trauma Center. In this role, she is focused on building community partnerships, responsive program growth/improvement, and professional development of IVP professionals. Within the Parkland/UTSW BioTel EMS system, Dr. Edwards supports the operations of 13 EMS agencies and an EMS social work division supporting over 2.4 million people in the Dallas metro area through 260,000 EMS-911 calls annually. Courtney achieved a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Texas Christian University and a Master of Public Health from the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center. Dr. Edwards continues to provide direct bedside care as a member of the Trauma Team.
Dr. Marc Grossman, MD, FACEP
Dr. Marc M. Grossman is a board-certified emergency physician and experienced Emergency Department Medical Director with more than twenty years of clinical, academic, and leadership experience. He has led emergency departments at multiple trauma centers and currently serves as a staff physician at Boston Medical Center, with extensive expertise in disaster response, prehospital care, and EMS system oversight. Dr. Grossman has served as Medical Director for several fire and EMS agencies, including Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, and is a Medical Team Manager with FEMA Urban Search and Rescue teams. A published author and frequent media contributor, he is nationally recognized for his work in emergency medicine, public health preparedness, peer support, and systems improvement.
Garrett D. Hall, MS, BSN, RN, CSTR, CAISS
As the Acting State of Hawaii Chief of Emergency Medical Services and State Trauma Program Manager, Garrett Hall bring over 25 years of experience as an Emergency and Trauma Nurse dedicated to improving patient outcomes through data-driven systems, clinical innovation, and collaborative leadership. Garrett's work bridges frontline emergency care with statewide policy, trauma system design, and EMS integration—advancing interoperability, clinical performance improvement, and equitable access to emergency care. Passionate about evidence-based practice and inclusive leadership, Garrett focuses on uniting data, technology, and compassionate care to strengthen Hawaii’s trauma and EMS systems and support the clinicians who serve on the front lines every day.
Dr. Jon R. Krohmer, MD, FACEP, FAEMS
Dr. Jon R. Krohmer, is a nationally recognized leader in emergency medical services and emergency medicine. He is the Principal of EMSMD LLC and currently serves in advisory and governance roles with the National EMS Museum, the Commission on the Accreditation of Ambulance Services, and Velico Medical, while holding adjunct faculty appointments at Michigan State University and Western Michigan University. Dr. Krohmer retired as Director of the NHTSA Office of EMS at the U.S. Department of Transportation and previously served in senior medical leadership roles within the Department of Homeland Security. Board certified in emergency medicine and EMS, he has dedicated his career to advancing prehospital care, trauma systems, and emergency medical leadership nationwide.
Dr. Brent Myers, MD, MPH
Dr. Myers is an internationally recognized expert in Emergency Medical Services and Mobile Integrated Healthcare, triple-board certified in Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medical Services, and Clinical Informatics. His expertise includes evidence-based performance measures, system design, cardiac arrest care, and population health management. He has held senior leadership roles with Wake County EMS, Evolution Health, and American Medical Response and is a past president of both NAEMSP and NCCEP. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for ESO and has happily resumed his annual commitment to ensure his nephew, Davin, sees at least one new major league baseball stadium per year.
Jamie Troyer, BSN, RN, CEN, TCRN
Jamie Troyer is the Trauma Outreach & Injury Prevention Coordinator and Trauma Survivors Network (TSN) Coordinator at the University of Utah. She began her career as an EMT before becoming a nurse in 2007, spending most of her clinical practice in the University of Utah Emergency Department prior to transitioning to the trauma team in 2019. In her current role, Jamie leads injury prevention initiatives and collaborates with partners locally and nationally to advance evidence‑informed trauma prevention efforts. She also serves as Chair of the Trauma Center Association of America (TCAA) Injury Prevention Committee.
