Budget deal includes $5.4B for Ebola crisis, limits insurer protections

The $1.1 trillion spending package that congressional negotiators announced this week takes aim at a provision of the healthcare reform law intended to protect insurers from higher-than-expected costs. It also includes roughly $5.4 billion to deal with the Ebola crisis and prepare for future infectious disease outbreaks.  The Ebola funding is 13% less than the $6.2 billion requested by the Obama administration. About half that money will go to HHS, including $500 million for domestic initiatives, such as worker training, and $1.2 billion for international efforts.  Click here to read more.....
