Since 1987 the American Trauma Society has been the leader in trauma registry education around the nation’s trauma systems. Two decades later, the American Trauma Society continues its legacy, offering industry leading training for trauma registry professionals. The CSTR Exam Preparation Course is a comprehensive program designed to equip individuals with the essential knowledge and skills needed to excel in the Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR) exam. This course offers a structured and concentrated approach to exam preparation which is ideal for those seeking a more focused and organized study experience. Hands-on case studies and practical exercises are aligned with the four (4) CSTR exam domains. This course is ideal for those who may also want to participate in the ATS CSTR Mentorship Program.
CSTR status represents a trauma registry professional and data expert who has demonstrated current competence in a specialized area of practice and been credentialed through the American Trauma Society (ATS). Certification in trauma registry is highly valued and provides national and formal recognition of basic trauma registry knowledge.This certification program was designed to promote the delivery of safe and effective care through the highest quality of data analysis.

Upon completion of the CSTR Exam Preparation Course, the learner will be able to:
1. Identify HIPAA requirements for TQIP submissions, data downloads, and data transfers. 2. Outline the role of stakeholders and governing authorities on trauma program structure. 3. Identify data requirements set by governing authorities at local, regional, state, and national levels. 4. Outline the various statistical metrics and reporting models and their application in trauma data analytics and benchmarking 5. Describe trauma registry best practices and basic principles of data abstraction and validation 6. Identify and explain the nomenclature of ICD10CM, ICD10PCS, and AIS code sets

The Trauma Center Association of America is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 16459 for 16.0 contact hours. CE Certificate must be retained for 4 years after date of issue. If learner does not possess an RN License, a completion certificate worth 16.0 ATS Contact Hours will be provided.
Prerequisite & Requirements
1. A laptop or desktop computer equipped with working microphone and video camera 2. High speed internet and web access 3. Access to double monitors is highly recommended 4. A distraction-free environment for optimal learning 5. Complete pre-course activities as assigned 6. Attend technology check: Date TBD 7. Complete post-course survey to receive CE certificate
