This webinar will provide trauma program leaders with practical, evidence-based strategies to effectively advocate for trauma registry staffing, education, and technology resources within their organizations. Led by three nationally recognized trauma program management experts, the session will explore how trauma registries support ACS compliance, performance improvement, data integrity, and broader organizational goals.

Participants will gain tools to clearly communicate registry workload, operational complexity, and resource needs to hospital leadership while building stronger support for sustainable trauma program infrastructure.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Define the strategic role of the trauma registry within the trauma program and health system 
Describe the workload, operational demands, and complexity of trauma registry operations 
Identify ACS staffing expectations and potential compliance risks related to insufficient resources 
Apply a structured framework to justify registry staffing, training, and technology needs to organizational leadership

Kathleen D. Martin, is a trauma system consultant developing trauma centers and systems globally. Previously, she served as senior director of trauma services at UCHealth (Colorado), and also served as trauma nurse director at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany (the first ACS-verified trauma center outside the U.S.) and trauma program manager at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Kathleen serves on the board of directors of the American Trauma Society and teaches the ATS Trauma Program Management Course. She served for 19 years on the Society of Trauma Nurses BOD and was their 2000-2001 President, and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Trauma Nursing. She was a charter developer of the TOPIC course and created a number of far-reaching trauma PI processes. Kathleen has mentored trauma professionals nationally and internationally and presented trauma education for colleagues in Europe, Middle East, Ukraine, South America, and Australasia.

Jane E. McCormack has experience as a trauma program manager at Level I, II and III trauma centers. Her experience with the trauma registry spans 35 years and includes both mature high-volume centers and smaller start up centers. Jane has been Faculty for the American Trauma Society Trauma Registry Course for more than 10 years and loves to learn from the students in that course about new challenges in registry data practices.

Amanda L. Truelove's trauma experience spans 30 years, with 16 years as a combat medic and over 10 years in trauma registry. Amanda’s healthcare experience ranges from revenue cycle, coding, CDI and Compliance to ED direct care. Trauma Center exposure incudes military and both Pediatric and Adult ACS Level 1, with consulting in level 2 and 3 state designated centers on coding and registry operations.  Amanda’s advocacy for the registry professionals includes serving as faculty for multiple ATS registry education courses, along with volunteer roles on multiple state and national committees or councils. Her passion is advocacy for trauma, with particular focus on military & trauma registry.
