  Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
  1. I'm a member of the American Trauma Society (ATS). Why can't I log into the TIEP secure site?

Although the Trauma Information Exchange Program (TIEP) is a program of the American Trauma Society, it maintains its own secure web area. This is due to the separate functions of each secure area. The ATS secure site is designed to assist members of the Society manage information related to the membership itself. The TIEP secure site is designed as a mechanism for trauma centers to maintain their trauma center inventory profiles and access other secure materials. Since the ATS membership and TIEP participant lists are similar but not congruent, we maintain separate secure areas.

  2. My TIEP secure site username / password doesn't seem to be working. What should I do?

Please check to see that you have spelled both your username and password correctly. Passwords were randomly generated, are six characters in length and follow a letter-number repeating sequence. Note: Neither usernames nor passwords are case sensitive. If you have double checked your username and password and still cannot access the secure site, please contact Tony Carlini, TIEP Project Director.

  3. I know that my facility is a trauma center? What is my username and password?

If you are part of the trauma center inventory, a principal contact (usually the trauma coordinator or program manager), likely received an email from TIEP listing the username and password. We have requested that these contact people assist us in maintaining the inventory data at their hospitals as well as serve as gatekeepers for sharing the username and password with other key personnel. Please follow up with this individual if possible or contact Tony Carlini, TIEP Project Director if it is not possible.

  4. I searched for my trauma center by entering my zip code (on the homepage) and my facility was not listed. Why is that?

TIEP maintains an inventory of trauma centers, which is updated quarterly. Your facility is likely recognized as a trauma center in our most recent datasets, but may not be currently listed as part of the zip code look up function because this application is currently based on an archived data set. TIEP is currently in the process of upgrading this function to work with our data in a more fluid process that will update the application as our data changes over time. However, your facility is included in our other dynamically generated reports, based on real-time data. We apologize for any inconvenience while we work to correct the technical oversight.

  5. I forgot my username / password. What should I do?

Please contact Tony Carlini, TIEP Project Director.

  6. Can I change my username or password?

At this time, we do not allow users to change usernames or passwords. This policy maintains programmatic consistency across centers as well as consistency within each center, which is essential because multiple users may share a single account.

  7. I noticed that some reports mention an "unspecified" level. What is that?

The "unspecified" designation level is assigned to hospitals in states where trauma centers are designated by a state or regional authority, but a specific numeric level is not assigned.
