Trauma
Systems Inventory
TIEP collaborated with the Health
Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the National
Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) on a survey of trauma systems
in the U.S.
Under the Trauma Care Systems Planning and Development Act, HRSA offered
grants to all 50 states and U.S. territories to complete a survey
on the status of their trauma systems in 2002 and organize a stakeholders
meeting to conduct a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats)
analysis in order to define issues facing their trauma systems.
TIEP assisted in the development of the survey questionnaire, which
was based on a 1992 survey by Gloria Bazzoli and Ellen MacKenzie.
In addition, TIEP collaborated in the analysis of the survey and SWOT
data. The
report of the survey results is available at the HRSA website.
