Trauma Center Inventory

The objectives of the Trauma Center Inventory are to:

• Identify all trauma centers in the U.S. that are designated or certified by a state or regional authority and/or are verified by the American College of Surgeons
  
  
• Identify a principal contact person at each center
  
  
• Collect data for each center on designation/certification and verification, level of adult and pediatric trauma care, characteristics of the trauma registry, and contact information for key personnel
  
  
• Facilitate online maintenance of the data
  
  
• Conduct targeted surveys among the trauma centers on selected issues

As of April 2002, we identified over 1100 trauma centers in the country. To collect inventory data, telephone interviews were conducted with a contact person at each trauma center. The data are reported in tables and maps which are available under Reports.
