The American Trauma Society works closely with the following agencies to fulfill its mission of reducing injuries and their impact on the community.

American Automobile Association Foundation for Traffic Safety (AAA)

The AAA Foundation has sponsored over 200 projects related to highway safety, covering topics such as distracted, impaired, and drowsy driving; road rage; graduated driver licensing; driver's education and training; and pedestrian safety. 


American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

The professional association for Pediatricians provides a variety of health and safety resources for children and families.


American Burn Association (ABA)

The American Burn Association develops resources to promote and supporte burn-related research, education, care, rehabilitation, and prevention.  The ABA hosts Burn Awareness Week, observed the first full week in February, designed to provide an opportunity for burn, fire and life safety educators to unite in sharing a common burn awareness and prevention message in our communities.


American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS)

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons provides education and practice management services for orthopaedic surgeons and allied health professionals.

American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST)

The AAST is dedicated to discovery, dissemination, implementation, and evaluation of knowledge related to acute care surgery (trauma, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgery) by fostering research, education, and professional development in an environment of fellowship and collegiality. We strive to improve the care of injured patients before, during, and after hospitalization.


American College of Surgeons – Committee on Trauma (ACS – COT)

A committee of the American College of Surgeons that strives to improve the care of injured patients before, during, and after hospitalization. 


Brain Injury Association of America (BIA)

BIAA's mission is to advance awareness, research, treatment, and education and to improve the quality of life for all people affected by brain injury. 

National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (CDC)

For more than 20 years, CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (the Injury Center) has helped protect Americans from injuries and violence.

Children’s Safety Network (CSN)

Children’s Safety Network is dedicated to working with state, territorial and community Maternal & Child Health and Injury & Violence prevention programs to create an environment where all children and youth are safe and healthy.

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)

CPSC is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of injury or death associated with the use of the thousands of types of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction.

Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST)

The Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST) provides a forum for the exchange of knowledge to advance the care and rehabilitation of the injured patient.

Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC)

The federal EMS for Children program established a National Resource Center in 1991, with the goal of reducing the disparities between emergency treatment of children and adults across the nation.

Injury Free Coalition

A national program developed with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation comprised of hospital-based, community-oriented programs whose efforts are anchored in research, education and advocacy.


National Safety Council (NSC)

The National Safety Council saves lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the roads through leadership, research, education and advocacy.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

NHTSA was established by the Highway Safety Act of 1970 and is dedicated to achieving the highest standards of excellence in motor vehicle and highway safety.

Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA)

The mission of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) is to promote excellence in care for the injured patient, through provision of scientific forums and support of musculoskeletal research and education of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the public. 

Pediatric Trauma Society (PTS) Injury Prevention / Advocacy Committee 

The Injury Prevention / Advocacy Committee is responsible for promoting injury prevention and the outcomes of various programs on decreasing injury. 

Safe Kids Worldwide

Safe Kids Worldwide is a global organization dedicated to preventing injuries in children, the number one killer of kids in the United States. 


Safe States

The Safe States Alliance is a non-profit organization and professional association whose mission is to strengthen the practice of injury and violence prevention. 


The Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR)

The Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR) is a professional organization that provides leadership and fosters excellence in the science of preventing and treating injury and violence.

Society of Trauma Nurses (STN) Injury Prevention SIG

The Injury Prevention SIG is a very active group of injury prevention trauma nurses and trauma nurses interested in the promotion and advancement of injury prevention. 



The mission of ThinkFirst is to prevent brain, spinal cord and other traumatic injuries through education, research and advocacy. 


Trauma Prevention Coalition

The Trauma Prevention Coalition combines the resources of the major professional organizations addressing the acute healthcare needs of the injured to promote collaborative efforts and develop effective strategies in injury/ violence prevention while minimizing redundant and duplicative activities. 


Trauma Center Association of America (TCAA) 

The mission of the TCAA is to secure the viability of America’s Trauma Centers and foster a sustainable national system of trauma care. 


United Spinal Association (United Spinal)
United Spinal Association is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of all people living with a spinal cord injury or disease (SCI/D).
