Associate Director of Trauma/Surgical Critical Care
The Department of Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso is seeking a trauma/critical care fellowship trained general surgeon with a strong interest in developing a career in academic surgery. The position is a full-time appointment at TTUHSC and the salary is competitive.

TTUHSC’s surgery residency program is affiliated with Thomason Hospital, which is the only Level I trauma center for a 270-mile radius serving 1.1 million individuals. The trauma program admits 2,300 patients annually of which 91% sustain blunt trauma.

The Health Sciences Center and its University Hospital supports nine residencies in the major disciplines. The surgery residency program is full accredited and graduates three chief residents per year. The University Health Sciences Center has received approval from the Texas Legislature to develop a four-year medical school on the El Paso Campus. This is a unique opportunity for an individual to join a young dynamic surgical department.

El Paso is a rapidly growing city on the Texas-Mexico border. The Health Sciences Center is also expanding and presents opportunities and challenges to potentially interested faculty. We enjoy a warm, dry, sunny climate, which allows outdoor activities twelve months a year. The selected candidate will actively participate in medical student/resident education, research and will perform a wide variety of surgical procedures.
