Sheryl
Jean Zougras, better known as “Shari” was one of the
founding members of the American Trauma Society’s Trauma Registrar
Council. She chaired the Data Sub-committee for a number of years,
and was one of the very first speakers at the Trauma Registrar Educational
Seminar. Shari was the Trauma Registry Manager at Loyola University
Health System, in Chicago, Illinois for many years. Shari passed
away on June 18, 2002 after a long illness. She was a strong advocate
for the trauma registrar, and envisioned great things for our profession.
She will be greatly missed.
It is our vision that the Shari Zougras Scholarship will help to
keep Shari’s dreams for the trauma registrar going. It will
provide funding for an active trauma registrar to attend the Trauma
Registrar Educational Seminar as well as the Annual National Trauma
Conference each year.
Nomination Process:
1) Any person can nominate an active trauma registrar. (i.e. co-worker,
trauma coordinator, care coordinator, trauma director, resident,
etc.)
2) A letter must be written to the Chair of the Trauma Registrar
Council and send it to the national office. This letter should detail
why he/she feels that the nominated trauma registrar deserves this
scholarship, and list the trauma registrar's attributes. Remit to:

council's steering committee. This committee consists of the Trauma

and contributions.
