Our Mission

The mission of American Trauma Society is the elimination of needless death and disability from injury.

Our vision is to become the preeminent national organization for injury prevention, support of trauma victims and their families, education of the trauma workforce, and advocacy for trauma system development.

Our strategies are to:

  • Promote advocacy of the trauma care system nationally
  • Create awareness of trauma as a preventable disease
  • Champion injury prevention efforts
  • Provide support to individuals and families who suffer trauma, helping them move from trauma victim status to that of trauma survivor
  • Research new trends and breakthroughs in trauma care and inform the field and the public
  • Work to ensure that each trauma patient receives the right care from at the right facility at the right time
  • Establish collaborative partnerships with other trauma care organizations to further our mission.
