ATS Membership Committee

The Membership Committee meets monthly by teleconference to maintain and increase ATS members in all categories. Chaired by Dr. Jack Templeton and co-chaired by Robbi Hartsock, RN, MSN, the Membership Committee is open to all ATS members in good standing who want to contribute to the vitality of ATS! The committee, assisted by ATS staff and Board members, recruits members in the following categories:

Chaired by Kathi Ayers, RN, MSN, NP, the Injury Prevention Committee (IPC) is an ad hoc committee of members from ATS dedicated to development and dissemination of materials and programs designed to prevent traumatic injury.

One of the committee's responsibilities is to prepare for National Trauma Awareness Month (NTAM) each May. The NTAM Working Group, made up of ATS IPC members as well as members of teh Society of Trauma Nurses, researches injury prevalence and related prevention issues and develops an injury prevention agenda and programs that are then made available to ATS and STN members for rollout in March for use during the entire year. The committee meets year-round by teleconference, and is open to all ATS members with an interest in injury prevention.

Trauma Survivors Network National Advisory Committee

The TSN National Advisory Committee (NAC), Chaired by Peter Thomas, is a standing ATS Committee made up of volunteers from across the country, including professionals in trauma care, mental health issues related to traumatic injury, and trauma survivors and their family members. The committee meets monthly by teleconference to advise the ATS national office and staff on program implementation and national roll-out.

Committee membership is open to ATS members with experience in the treatment of the physical and mental health aspects trauma care in the acute and rehabilitation phases of care, as well as to trauma survivors and families of survivors.

Bystander Care of the Injured National Advisory Committee 

The BCI National Advisory Committee, chaired by Dr. Carl Valenziano, is a newly formed standing ATS committee dedicated to further researching, developing, and deploying the ATS Bystander Care of the Injured Program. The committee will meet monthly by teleconference to guide ATS staff in the development of a national consensus on the role of bystander care, and once that consensus is established, will assist ATS in the development and widespread deployment of this program. Membership is open to ATS members who are professionals in prehospital care (EMS), including EMTs, paramedics, and EMS administrators; professionals in acute trauma care; government agency officials involved in emergency medical response, and members of other national organizations involved in first care of the injured.

Trauma Information Exchange Program (TIEP) Advisory Committee

Chaired by Dr. Forrest Callen and co-chaired by Mary Kate FitzPatrick, RN, MSN, CRNP-BC, the TIEP Advisory Committee is a new committee charged with moving ahead the work of the decade-old Trauma Information Exchange Program (TIEP), and principally its database of all trauma centers in the United States.

TIEP data have been vital to the successful mathematical modeling that underlies the Trauma Resource Allocation Model for Ambulances and Hospitals (TRAMAH) and many other life-saving projects. ATS believes that these data must continue to be developed and refined.
